This pages offers a description of the various channels through which I deliver my classes. It is also a way to acknowledge my deep gratitude to the people behind the agencies who make it all work.
COMMUNITY COLLEGE CLASSES:
Some of my classes are offered through North Orange County Community College and Cerritos College. The classes are part of the college’s Continuing Education program and are free. The classes are partially funded by the state. Instructors are faculty members at the sponsor college. The classes are held on campus or at various partner facilities such as a community center or senior center. The partner facilities donate their space and time to the college in exchange for increased diversity in their array of class offerings.
Students must register through the college’s School of Continuing Education. Registration can be done directly online or in class through the instructor. The class schedule operates on a term system – usually Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter.
Special Note: My Tai Chi and Balance classes are listed under the title Health and Wellness at NOCCCD and Stress Management at Cerritos College.

COMMUNITY EDUCATION CLASSES:
Many colleges also offer fee based Community Education classes that do not require college enrollment. My Community Education classes run in six week blocks. The classes are offered year round with an occasional break between sessions. Community education classes cover a wide range of subjects with excellent value. Classes are held on campus and also at off campus locations.

CITY CLASSES:
Some of my longest running classes are offered through the City of Covina and the City of Glendora as part of the Department of Parks and Recreation. The classes are fee based and run in eight week sessions. The sessions operate year round with short breaks between sessions.
City programs often don’t get the recognition they deserve. There are close to a hundred different classes offered, all priced very reasonably with the express purpose of being available to all! There are many dedicated and remarkable staff and instructors who work to make unique learning opportunities available to anyone with a desire to grow. Additionally, a person wishing to share a special area of knowledge or skill can potentially begin by offering a class through a city program. This is community at it’s best!

HEALTH CARE FACILITIES:
I also offer classes through St. Jude’s Center for Rehabilitation and Wellness. Theses classes are a tremendous resource. St. Jude has reached out to the community through a unique program, Synergy, in an effort to make their state of the art rehabilitation facility available to the public in the form of fitness classes, massage therapy, private instruction, and other wellness services, all at incredibly low cost. Classes run year round.

THE ‘Y’ (YMCA):
I have been teaching classes through the ‘Y’ for over forty years. My first teaching job was through the ‘Y’ so it holds a special place in my life. Like other agencies I have described, ‘Y’ class offerings cover a diverse array of subjects and disciplines. Fees for classes at the ‘Y’ are scaled depending on member – nonmember status and classification, community vs. special interest. ‘Y’ classes offer excellent value for the price paid.

CENTER FOR SPIRITUAL LIVING:
Over the years I have experienced a gradual increase in the number of faith based organizations seeking to enrich their offerings to people in the area of health and wellness. The Tai Chi class at CSL is a public class, open to church members and non-church members equally. It is a generous gift by an organization willing to provide space for a community class offered in the spirit of improving wellness for all regardless of personal beliefs.

PUBLIC PARKS:
Although I do not currently offer any classes at public parks, I must mention them as a resource due to the hundreds of hours of practice and teaching that I have accumulated in such places over the years. These days one can find an individual or group practicing tai chi, yoga, karate, or some other discipline on any day of the week.

PRIVATE INSTRUCTION:
Due to time and schedule constraints I generally do not offer private instruction. In my experience a class setting is often superior to individual instruction. There are exceptions and so I take this on a case by case basis.
